The first and only official release of the horror edutainment parody game was Baldi's Basics. This game defies simple interpretation. A 2018 parody survival horror game created by American indie developer Micah McGonigal, Fundamentals of Education and Learning by Baldi goes by many names: Baldi's Basics, Baldi's Basics Classic, and Baldi's Basics. Using cheesy graphics and ideas reminiscent to Sonic's Schoolhouse, IM Meen, and 3D Dinosaur Adventure, the game mocks educational video games from the '90s. Initially released as a beta version on March 31, 2018, Baldi's Basics is compatible with both macOS and Microsoft Windows. Early access to Baldi's Basics Plus, the complete game with all of its features and main gameplay, began on June 12, 2020.
